Genesis 3:1-8 The Story of the Serpent and Eve
(Verse 1) Serpent: Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?
(Verses 2-3) Eve: We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden, but God said, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' - Interpreting and deciding based on personal thoughts and desires.
(Verses 4-5) Serpent: You will not certainly die; for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
(Verse 6) The tree was appealing to eat, beautiful to look at, and would make one wise.
The Meaning of Eating the Fruit of Knowledge of Good and Evil - The origin of sin, the root of all sin: disbelief: Disbelief, listening to the words of the devil, determining right and wrong based on personal thoughts and experiences, judging good and evil.
(Verse 7) After eating, they realized their nakedness and made clothes to cover themselves (beginning of judgment of good and evil) - Acting like a judge, placing oneself in the seat of judgment. Disregarding God's promise that seeking His kingdom and righteousness first would provide everything, instead prioritizing personal needs.
They have no concept of denying themselves and carrying the cross. They prioritize their own pleasure and make themselves the standard.
(Verse 8) Result: They hid from God's presence (shame, guilt, fear).
Our own selves, our ego, love this world and are attached to worldly things. Therefore, do not love the world or the things in the world. God's love is not in it. Money, work, success, children, etc. Read the Bible with an honest heart and confirm it yourself.
Spiritual meaning of eating from the Tree of Life in the center of the garden - Originally, Adam and Eve could have eaten from the Tree of Life and lived forever.
Eating the manna given by Jesus, the Tree of Life. The Bread of Life. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It's time to stop partaking in the knowledge of good and evil and start partaking in the Tree of Life. We must live in Christ.
Genesis 3:19 - To man: By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.
Genesis 3:14 - You are cursed and will crawl on your belly, and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
The one with the authority of sin and death - Satan.Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world, and through sin, death came to all people.Salvation is being rescued from the grip of the enemy, Satan, who rules through sin and death, taking humans caught in the cycle of sin, repeating the knowledge of good and evil that only God can judge, and transferring them into the kingdom of God.
Romans 8:13 - For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
The greatness of the Gospel lies here. God loves and knows us, sending Jesus to save us. Jesus, the Last Adam, lived a life of perfect obedience and submission to the Word, bearing all the sufferings caused by sin, dying on the cross, and defeating the authority of death and sin.
Therefore, the Bible calls Jesus the Last Adam, and He became a life-giving spirit. Jesus lived the perfect life Adam should have lived, shed His blood to forgive our sins, crucified our old self, our sinful nature, on the cross, and shattered the power of Satan, who led us to death and hell by consuming us like dust. He has accomplished everything. It is finished.
This is the truth that sets us free. Will you believe this truth with sincere and complete faith?
