MATTHEW 28

Our mission

Meet Jesus. Become a disciple. Help someone else do the same.

Our purpose comes from Jesusโ€™ final command in Matthew 28:19โ€“20: to make disciples. We want people who do not yet know Jesus to meet him, grow in his character, and carry his hope into their homes, high schools, unis, workplaces, Sydney, Australia, and the nations.

A sent church

New roots from a faithful story.

  1. 1981

Sydney Central Presbyterian Church was established by early Korean immigrants and became a spiritual home for generations of Korean Australians.

  2. 2014

Heritage of Faith Church was planted and sent from SCPC. Our first service was held on 16 March with a vision to raise the next generation, make disciples, and serve our city and the nations.

What shapes us

Less like a programme. More like a shared way of life.

  1. 01

    Family

Church becomes a family where people are known, loved, and restored across generations.

  2. 02

    Disciples

We learn the way of Jesus through Scripture, prayer, honest conversation, and ordinary practice.

  3. 03

    Next generation

We want our children and young people to inherit a living faith they can make their own.

  4. 04

    Mission

Every believer is invited to serve, help another person grow, and carry the hope of Jesus into the world.

House Church ยท Small groups

Why doesnโ€™t church change Monday?

House Church begins with that honest question. Each week, 6โ€“12 people meet in a home to share food and life, pray, learn, serve, and help one another follow Jesus. We call these small groups Mokjang. Ministry belongs to every member, not only the pastor.

01 / WILL

Worship as one church

We hear Scripture together and renew our direction and commitment before God.

02 / HEART

Share life in a small group

In a Mokjangโ€”our name for a small groupโ€”we meet each week to share our joys and struggles, pray for one another, and experience the warmth of being accepted as we are.

03 / MIND

Learn the Bible for everyday life

We study the Bible in a structured course called Life Study, so faith grows roots as well as feelings.

Explore the four biblical foundations
  1. 01 / Matthew 28:19โ€“20

    A biblical purpose

Save souls and make disciples. We focus on people before programmes.

  2. 02 / Mark 3:13โ€“15

    Relational discipleship

Disciples are formed by shared life and example, not teaching alone.

  3. 03 / Ephesians 4:11โ€“12

    Shared ministry

Pastors equip through Word, prayer, and leadership. Members serve through care, witness, counsel, and nurture.

  4. 04 / Mark 10:42โ€“45

    Servant leadership

Leadership means serving so another person can grow and flourish.

ROOTS

Faith and accountability

Rooted. Accountable. Open to questions.

Heritage of Faith Church belongs to the General Assembly of Korean Presbyterian Church in Oceania (Kosin). We practise House Church within that Presbyterian identity, with our mission and ministry shaped by Scripture.

If you are checking whether a church is healthy and trustworthy, we think that is a wise question. Ask us directly about what we believe, how leadership works, and how we are accountable.

Ask us a real question
01 / Our beliefsHistoric faith. Plain language.

We stand within the historic Christian faith and the Reformed Presbyterian tradition summarised in the Westminster Confession and Catechisms. These essentials shape what we teach, how we worship, and how we live together.

  1. 01 / Matthew 28:19 ยท 2 Corinthians 13:14

    One God

We believe in one eternal God who has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  2. 02 / 2 Timothy 3:16โ€“17 ยท Psalm 119:105

    The Bible

We receive the Bible as Godโ€™s Word and our trustworthy authority for faith, teaching, and everyday life.

  3. 03 / John 1:1โ€“14 ยท 1 Corinthians 15:3โ€“4

    Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is truly God and truly human. He lived without sin, died for our sins, rose bodily, reigns now, and will return.

  4. 04 / Genesis 1:27 ยท Romans 3:23

    People and sin

Every person bears Godโ€™s image and has profound worth. Sin has broken our relationship with God, one another, and ourselves.

  5. 05 / Ephesians 2:8โ€“9 ยท Romans 5:1

    Grace and salvation

Salvation is Godโ€™s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ rather than earned by religious effort or good works.

  6. 06 / John 14:16โ€“17 ยท Galatians 5:22โ€“25

    The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives in believers, makes us more like Jesus, gives gifts for service, and empowers the church for witness.

  7. 07 / Acts 2:42โ€“47 ยท Ephesians 4:11โ€“13

    The church

The church is Christโ€™s people, called to worship, learn, share life, practise baptism and the Lordโ€™s Supper, serve, and make disciples together.

  8. 08 / John 5:28โ€“29 ยท Revelation 21:1โ€“5

    Our hope

We look for Christโ€™s return, the resurrection, Godโ€™s just judgment, and the renewal of all things in his presence.

02 / Leadership & accountabilityNo one builds the church alone.
01

Denominational roots

HOFC is not an independent church. We belong to the General Assembly of Korean Presbyterian Church in Oceania (Kosin), within the wider accountability of presbytery and General Assembly.

02

Pastoral responsibility

The pastor gives himself to Scripture, prayer, spiritual leadership, and equipping members for ministry.

03

Every member ministers

Members share responsibility for witness, care, counsel, nurture, and the everyday work of building up the church.

04

Leaders serve

Leadership is measured by service. Our small-group leaders, called Mokja and Moknyeo, care for people relationally so they can grow and flourish.

Want to ask about doctrine, leadership decisions, safeguarding, or financial accountability? We welcome direct questions and will answer as clearly as we can.
